Knitting Lace......Azzu's Shawl

I'm posting this project to keep me accountable to actually finishing this and not becoming discouraged by the task at hand.  I was looking for a pattern to knit from this lovely yarn purchased a few years ago.

As you can see this is Yarn Pirates yarn in Smoke Ring it's 460.yards of Bamboo, Merino,Nylon goodness.  So I chose this Pattern from Ravelry.com and although I've done a few lace items it's never been this involved.  Thank goodness for me that this pattern came with written instructions instead of a Chart (I just don't do well but that's one of the items on my list to overcome for 2013).  I'm currently on Row 30 and this is what it looks like so far.

Well I need to end this now so that I can resume my knitting I will update you all to my progress in the next few days.  Until have a great day!!!!

December 2012 CurlKit Reveal

Here's my Reveal for Curlkit December 2012. I love that you can spend $20 and get all of these wonderful goodies.  If you're not already signed up I advise you to give them a try and their Customer Service Reps are awesome.  Thanks again CurlKit.com for providing me with a wonderful treat every month.

Got My Hook and I've been Busy

If you are new to my blog I love to knit, sew, quilt, make cards but I was looking for some instant gradification and decided to get the hooks out and search Ravelry for some fun projects to work on and came across a few that I've been working away on.  I found some Sugar n Cream 100% cotton yarn and worked on the Diagonal Dishcloths and love how quick they work up made at least 20 of them since I completed the first one.

Then I wanted to do a crochet cowl and found this Brigette's Mobius Cowl because I was using Malabrigo Silky Merino which, by the way, is a wonderful fiber to work with and turned out so wonderful that I'm on my third one already and I just found this pattern 2 days ago.

then I did one using chunky Malabrigo but I can't remember the colorway cause I've had the yarn for a few years but it turned out nice also.......what do you think??????

So while I was making things I had a few fat quarters, some fleece remnants so I decided to make a lap quilt that I'm call Hypnotic. I hadn't quilt in a while and I'm trying to get rid of some old stash so I can justify getting some new items.

Well this is all I have for now I hope you enjoyed my little projects and it would be so nice to hear from you when you have a chance.  Hope you have a wonderful Holiday Season.

True Tuesday

So sorry I missed last week's posting of TT but I had some things called life that needed my attention.

1. Change is not always easy but it's necessary if you intend on reaching your destiny.
2. Being true to yourself is more important than making others happy just to satisfy their expectations for your life. As the famous quote states " To Thine Own Self Be True".
3. Cultivate, nurture, and protect your relationships by being honest and genuine with those that mean the most to you.
4. Realize that above all things you are human and fallible which means you are capable of making mistakes. The character builder is all in how you handle them.
5. If you have a spiritual connection it deserves your commitment as you will find peace as your attention to it grows.

Now that that has been shared I want to say that I made some defining decisions that will greatly impact my future. I'm 45 yrs old and when you're use to making everyone around you happy at the expense of yourself that's not really living a fulfilling life. So as I move into this new way of living my life I know that I'm a person that loves to give, I want the best for those around me, but I will have to find other ways to push those I love!!!

I'm a God fearing woman that wants my life to be pleasing in his sight. I pray that you find strength to find your truths and walk therein. Be Blessed

True Tuesdays

This is my 3rd installment of True Tuesdays I thought I would share my truths with you.

My Truths
1. I'm in a great relationship with God and although the walk has not always been easy it is a wonderful journey.
2. There are days that I wish I had the means to wake up and fly to New York for a day of shopping mainly to spend some time at Mood!!!!
3. When I look back over my life it wasn't the same through my adult eyes as it seemed during my childhood.
4. Love is never predictable but it is always a learning and growth process......if you're paying attention.
5. Finally, I want to continue living my life not asking what if but taking chances to continue following my dreams.

I hope me sharing my truths will prompt you to look at yourself and ask yourself what truths guide your journey through life. Until next week be blessed and reach for the stars!!!!!

Truth Tuesdays

Hey everyone it's time for another Truth Tuesday.  It's been a busy week and I've been working hard at some things that I will be sharing with you in the next month if not sooner.  Just keep me in your prayers that all will work in my favor if it's Gods will.

So let's get to it, shall we:

  1. I love to make things for people but I'm not a fast knitter and I always have like 10 different things going at the same time.
  2. Being organized is the only way I can truly function.  Things being in disarray fray my nerves so needless to say I've been frayed for a while.
  3. My dream job would be to have a DIY crafting business that would include home projects as well as handmade crafts.
  4. I love musicals from back in the day like 7 Brides for 7 Brothers, Singing in the Rain,  and pretty much anything with Judy Garland in it.
  5. I love to do for others but am trying to learn to slow down on that and take for myself so that I'm not lost.
I hope that as I share things about myself that you too will become more retrospective of yourself and learn what works for you and what doesn't.  Life is always an experience in self where each day brings us a chance to learn, grow and share.  Until my next post I wish you a great and wonderful day.  Be blessed.

True Tuesdays

This is a new insert to my blog. I will share five truths about myself. So lets get started....

1. I love potatoes....fried, roasted, baked, boiled or mashed.
2. When I was a girl I use to think I could really knit but I was only doing really long chain stitches.
3. I love music....gospel R & B(not the new stuff but back in the day)
4. I always told my parents I should've been born back in the 40's or 50's just for the fashion
5. I really wish I was a great roller skater cause it looks so much fun....yeah it's never to late to learn we'll see about that.

Stay tuned for next Tuesday's list. I hope you have a great day!!!!!

New Direction

Sorry it's been so long since I posted anything.  For 7 weeks I was on a Spiritual Sabbatical from all Social Media and it was one of the most eye-opening experiences I've had.  In the weeks to come I will delve into that a little more.  But for now, I want to inform you all that you will began to see all of the areas of my life shared here on my blog.  Allow me to reintroduce myself. My name is Phyllis and I'm a crafter that loves to knit, crochet, quilt, sew and make cards and sometimes scrapbook.  I a Naptural woman who has embraced the BC last year and have come to learn how to care for my TWA(tiny weeny afro). I love God and love going to church.  My previous blog talked about my life but not the way I've been compelled to share with you all now.

I have recently discovered two new opportunities that will expand the very fiber of my blog.  I will be making videos that I will be posting about products and services that I'm trying.  I would like to get your feedback of how you like what I'm doing.

A little creative juices and a new Venture

I have been going through bags of material and found out that I had cut out a few items so there was nothing left to do but sew them together. One of them was this Tunic. *Note this top needs to be adjusted as I have small shoulders. My other top was made on the fly to wear with my white pants. It's a sheer flowered fabric that I also rediscovered while shopping in my basement. I used my tracing paper to make a pattern cut my fabric And sewed them together. For the seams I did a double seam to insure no frayed ends and it adds a little weight.

I also tripped up on a cool site by the name of Influenster.com and it's set up for you to answer questions about yourself review products and then you qualify for different boxes. You can connect with them on Facebook and Twitter.

I hope you will check out Influenster and my tops on the fly inspire you to just create!! Love you be blessed and I look forward to sharing with you agai.

Been busy with Life.............But Yet Productive

Hello so it's been a while since my last blog post. There's so much going on personally for me as those that follow me know my family is in different stages of recovery from their Oct.2, 2011 accident. I'm very thankful that God has kept them here. We were so happy to have my Aunt come to church with us yesterday and for our fellowship afterwards.

L-R: My daughter Carmen, cousin Shay My daughter Camille,  Aunt Juanita and cousin Niecy

I have also sat back at the machine and made a dress for church yesterday. I used Simplicity pattern 6807.......yes I know it's a top pattern but you can always make them as a dress by adding  length. I had this stretch knit fabric for a few years and finally used it. Let me just say this I improvised a little with this but I was pleased with the results. I did have to seek out a tutorial on how to sew on a neck band using this type of material and I was very pleased with the results. The YouTube video was posted by Willtrainman. How to sew neck band for stretch knits

There has also been some card making and even a few scrapbook pages for my lil Nephew

New Direction and Picture Heavy Post

Hello all there has been so much going on in my life since my family's accident back in October. My 14yo cousin had to have surgery on her left leg again and it was discovered her left leg had not even begun to heal but thank God the Ortho doctor was able to make some changes and now she is doing well and has finally been able to return to school. My cousin is doing well although she has lost complete use of her wrist but still praying that her fingers will get to the point where she can bend them. My daughters are doing fairly well considering. My youngest Camille is still having problems with her left eye and her right leg so she starts back to physical therapy on tomorrow. My oldest Carmen is still having issues from the head injury so she has finally been seen by a neurologist and she will be able to go the therapy for her injury to her abdomen. My aunt is making progress and getting around well enough to do one of her favorite things....shopping. I'm just thanking God that everyone is doing as well as they are and remaining in good spirits. Next I wanted to share with you all that I have started public speaking as a Motivational Speaker dealing with ladies and young girls who have experienced sexual, mental and physical abuse. As well as working on another dream of mine which I hope to be able to share in the next few months. Now to share with you everything I've made and the last few months. Knitting
Made this sweater and hat set for a baby at my church CARDS
yes, I've been a little obsessed with cardmaking for the last few weeks but I love the feedback from the recipients so that makes it worth the time and effort. Quilts
These were created for two new additions the quilts were personalized one embroidered with the baby's name and the girl quilt was personalized with her picture, name and date of birth on the printable fabric sheet. Well this is a lot for now and I two more baby sweaters on the needles for my new nephew isn't he handsome
Had to leave you with that lil cutie pie. Hope you're being creative, productive and above sharing what God gave you to brighten someone elses day. Love you and be blessed.
